THE ROLE
Cambium is seeking a Director, Materials Science to join our advanced materials team. You will be hands on leading our technology teams to develop cutting-edge advanced materials. You will work hand in hand with our Chief Technology Officer to map technology strategy and resourcing and ensure our technology efforts result in the development & qualification of revolutionary advanced material products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Collaborate closely with the CTO to define and execute the company’s technology strategy in alignment with overall business goals.
· Hands on leadership of technical teams developing advanced materials
· Assist the CTO to drive technology roadmap planning, budgeting, and performance measurement
· Support recruiting and development of technical talent fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
· Act as a key liaison between the technology department and executive leadership, presenting complex technical concepts in business terms.
· Represent Cambium’s technical vision to external stakeholders when needed
KEY REQUIREMENTS
● Bachelors or higher in a relevant subject
● 8+ years industry experience
● Strong material science background
● A deep technical understanding of polymer composites & adhesives
● Must have experience in the developing and qualification of advanced materials in the aerospace industry
● You must have a strong desire to learn and be willing to work in a hands-on role
● Strong bias for action
● Exceptional communication
● Demonstrated leadership of technical teams
● Due to the nature of the work, you must have US citizenship
● Be a great teammate
● This is an onsite role based in El Segundo, CA

Salary: $155,000 – 220,000 annually
As a condition of employment, the candidate may successfully complete a medical evaluation and obtain clearance to wear respiratory personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134.
