Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced hands-on Structural Testing Engineer to join our Structural Engineering team and contribute in developing, testing and certifying innovative structural components and systems. You will be responsible for conducting various standard and R&D material, component and full scale testing of various structural systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and conduct various material, component and full-scale structural testing to address the testing and validation needs of our Structural Engineering Team
  • Prepare and draft test reports and presentations under the supervision of the structural testing manager
  • Maintain various structural testing equipment including servo electric and hydraulic systems
  • Assist with specifying future test equipment
  • Initiate and maintain calibration of various test equipment, data acquisition and sensors
  • Provide engineering insight and based on test results and failure analysis
  • Assist with the design and execution of various custom made and R&D test setups
  • Initiate and maintain quality programs for testing
  • Assist with code and compliance package submittals (test report and quality documentation preparation)

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in structural or mechanical engineering required (Master’s or PhD preferred)
  • At least 5 years of experience in structural product testing and certification required
  • Demonstrated experience with test equipment and sensors including servo- electric or hydraulic actuators, data acquisitions, transducers and strain gages required
  • Demonstrated expertise in product testing and certification as well as regulatory compliance and accreditation (such as ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ICC-ES, IAPMO-ES) required
  • Proficiency in utilization of existing testing literature (ASTM, ANSI, ICC or IAPMO AC’s) required; committee involvement highly preferred
  • Strong technical, problem solving and hands-on aptitude required
  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to coordinate between various teams required
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint (or similar packages) required
  • Experience with CAD, preferably Solidworks, required
  • Experience with SAP2000 and/or Abaqus preferred
