About Mytra:

We’re creating an entirely new way to solve the most ubiquitous problem in industry - moving and storing material. We’re applying robotics and distributed software to create a new class of product for this $1T market. We’re focused on the supply chain industry first. The industry is in a massive bind with the continued growth of e-commerce, sharp rise in costs, and supply chain disruptions. What has been a “sleepy” industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.

About the role:

We’re looking for an Associate Manager, Prototype Engineering to lead our team of skilled technicians through the critical early engineering development build phases of new robot generations, as well as manage our fleet of internal R&D Bots. This role ensures our early builds not only validate engineering concepts, but also mature into manufacturable, serviceable products ready for large-scale deployment.

Responsibilities:

  • Engineering prototype and Development Phase – Build & Manufacturing Readiness
  • Lead a team of technicians to plan, build, and assemble early prototype alpha-generation robots for Discovery/Development phase alongside engineering
  • Provide structured Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback to engineering teams.
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing to develop and pilot standardized work instructions that can be scaled to the production line.
  • Document repair and rework learnings during alpha builds to inform both manufacturing and service strategies.

Engineering Validation Phase – Repair, Rework & Field Service Preparation

  • Own rework, upgrade and repair execution on internal R&D robots to address design or production issues identified during pilot runs.
  • Work side-by-side with manufacturing to ensure fixes are implemented and standardized on the production line.
  • Translate rework processes into detailed repair documentation for long-term field use, partnered side-by-side with our Customer Deployment and Sustaining teams
  • Develop training and certification programs for field service technicians, ensuring consistent and reliable repairs once products are deployed at customer sites, creating a “center of excellence” for

Team & Resource Development

  • Build resource plans to scale technician capacity as product complexity and production volumes grow.
  • Mentor and train technicians to maintain a high level of quality and consistency in both pilot builds and rework activities.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement in how the team supports engineering, manufacturing, and field service.
  • Partner with other Engineering Prototype team for cross-training and skills sharing to ensure a well-rounded product feedback and team dynamic.

Process & Documentation

  • Establish and maintain standardized procedures for repairs, rework, and retrofits across alpha and beta phases.
  • Create structured documentation that transitions seamlessly from pilot builds to production and field service.
  • Ensure lessons learned during pilot phases are captured and fed back into engineering and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing prototype or pilot builds in robotics, hardware, or complex electromechanical systems.
  • Strong expertise in repair, rework, and retrofit processes, ideally in early-stage product development environments.
  • Familiarity with DFM practices, prototype-to-production transfer, and manufacturing line integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to create repair procedures, training materials, and technical documentation.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing technicians or small technical teams.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment, with flexibility to adapt and roll up sleeves as needed.

A Final Note:

You’re encouraged to apply even if you can’t take on every example project in its totality. We work closely and collaboratively at Mytra - No one takes on projects alone. We seek people who are eager to work together, learn new things, and bring unique perspectives.

Benefits Include:

  • Competitive compensation + equity grants at a high growth company backed by top tier VCs
  • Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), commuter benefits, and pet insurance
  • Lively modern combined office and lab space where we rapidly iterate through design, build and test phases
  • Lunch and snacks provided in the office; we eat and share stories together at the “long” table
  • Flexible hours and flexible PTO
