Role:

Northwood Space is looking for a Senior DSP/FPGA Engineer to join our team in our El Segundo office. This person will have ownership over the digital design of our antenna systems and their signal processing. They will be designing, developing, and testing FPGAs and ensuring they are able to provide resilient, reliable communication for our customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive system-level design of firmware and software designs for ground-based antenna system.

  • Ownership of firmware product development from initial design and prototype to verification testing and operations

  • Create system architectures and analyze trades and scope system requirements

  • Lead development of complete electrical design including analysis, selection of components, schematic capture, PCB layout and follow through to prototyping and debugging.

  • Design and test algorithms for high rate and parallel data processing

  • Work in close collaboration with RF, antenna, electrical, and software engineers to design and validate antenna systems

  • Provide input and guidance for manufacturing

  • Analyze performance data from in-the-field testing to diagnose and fix issues, and provide feedback for product improvements.

Experience:

  • Experience with high performance board architecture and design including use of Microprocessors and FPGAs

  • Experience with schematic and PCB layout tools

  • Understanding of thermal, mechanical, and RF constraints in PCB design.

  • Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers to debug complex digital designs with Microprocessors and FPGAs.

  • Ability to do hands on debug and small scale rework of SMT PCB components

  • Knowledge of VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog and experience developing digital signal processing designs

  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or C++

  • Ability to work in a cross-functional role

  • Ability to work in a fast paced and autonomously driven startup environment.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation is determined by role, level, location. and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a base-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, and technical capabilities. In addition to base salary, Northwood Space offers long term incentives such as company stock, stock options, and cash awards, as well as discretionary bonus for performance. Northwood Space benefits
