Role:
Northwood Space is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in our El Segundo office. This position will be have end-to-end ownership over the specification, architecture, simulation, schematics, PCB design, packing, and board validation of our high speed PCBs. They will support development of our next-generation gateway product.
Responsibilities:
Drive PCB design for high speed digital / RF communication systems, Architecting and designing state-of-the-art prototype printed circuit boards (PCBAs), using the latest generation FPGA, MPSoC, and/or RFSoC, with its associated peripherals and infrastructure.
Work with system architects, RF engineers, antenna engineers, DSP/FPGA engineers to optimize system performance and overall design
Perform Schematic design and layout alongside board bring up and validation
Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team to ensure smooth integration of the overall system.
Work with suppliers to ensure components are optimized for performance and cost.
Assess system performance and environmental effects in-the-field and incorporate analysis into system improvements.
Experience:
6+ years of professional experience in PCB design
Proficient in high-density/high-speed design (e.g. DDR memory and high-speed interfaces like JESD)
Proficient with signal integrity design techniques
Experience with low noise design and minimization of EMI/EMC
Experience with RF and split analog/digital designs
Software scripting experience for use in Altium Designer
Soldering and PCB rework skills
Experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex board designs and systems in a hardware R&D lab environment
Experience designing high reliability systems is a bonus
Experience in C or Python or software in general is a plus
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with others
Strong work ethic and drive to succeed
Ability to work in a fast paced and demanding start-up atmosphere
Willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation is determined by role, level, location. and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a base-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, and technical capabilities.
