About WellTheory

WellTheory is a digital health company helping people with autoimmune conditions take control of their health through personalized care, nutrition guidance, and ongoing coaching. We're a team of 50+ passionate people who believe better care starts with better relationships. Our organization has also entered its next chapter of rapid growth, and we’ve chosen to navigate it in a thoughtful, strategic, and values-aligned way.

About the Role

We're looking for a People Ops & Recruiting Generalist, reporting to our Head of People, to help us build and scale the operational foundation of our People function. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role sitting at the intersection of program management, recruiting, and HR generalist work.

Our People Team is currently a team of 1, and we’re at an inflection point: we're rolling out a new ATS (Ashby), kicking off an annual performance and compensation review cycle, and growing headcount across the company while concurrently investing in AI fluency across the company. There are also programs like engagement surveys that we have yet to launch and processes like IT provisioning that we’d like to automate altogether. We need someone who can take ownership of these programs, while keeping our Hiring and HR engine running.

What You'll Do

Program Management (~40%)

  • Design and launch our employee engagement survey and annual performance review program

  • Manage our compliance program: run audits in Vanta, ensure new hires have completed security setup, and help keep WellTheory compliant year-round

  • Lead the implementation of an IT solution: help automate hardware/software provisioning processes, track assets, and manage the vendor relationship

  • Help plan our monthly company-wide All Hands and annual company retreat

Recruiting (~40%)

  • Run full-cycle recruiting for open roles: source candidates, review applications, conduct screens, coordinate interviews, and manage the offer process

  • Partner with hiring managers to build and refine interview plans and scorecards in Ashby

  • Maintain clean, up-to-date pipelines and report on recruiting metrics in Ashby

People Ops (~20%)

  • Partner with our external HR vendor to triage any high-priority issues related to payroll, benefits, or state compliance.

  • Build repeatable and automated workflows for new hire onboarding and off-boarding

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employees and managers on HR questions, policies, and processes

  • Use Claude to draft communications on people-related topics (benefits changes, policy updates, etc.) and keep our internal Notion hub updated

You Might Be a Great Fit If You...

  • Have already integrated AI tools into your daily work and have owned a major systems implementation end-to-end

  • Have done full-cycle recruiting, not just coordination. You know how to source, build a pipeline, and close a strong candidate

  • Thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where you're expected to figure things out and build as you go

  • Are a curious person with a love of learning, and you embrace the opportunity to solve unknown problems from the ground up

  • Care about the people around you and bring genuine warmth and good judgment to your work

  • Have empathy for the autoimmune experience

Bonus Points

  • Direct experience with Gusto, Deel, Ashby, Vanta, and/or IT tools

  • Familiarity with our primary tech stack: Google, Slack, Notion, Claude

  • Background in health-tech or a compliance-heavy industry

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to help design and build the People infrastructure at an early stage from the ground up

  • Direct partnership and mentorship from a seasoned Head of People

  • A base salary range of $115,000 - $130,000: placement within it depends on directly relevant skills and experiences you bring to the role. Additionally, this role includes competitive equity, benefits, and remote work.

  • A team that genuinely cares about each other and the members we serve

At WellTheory, we're committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic team — so if you're excited about this role but your experience doesn't check every box, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might be exactly who we're looking for.
